ADC commissioned body of work

The Australian Dairy Conference board has commissioned leading dairy consultancy firm Freshlogic to embark on an exploration of what Australian dairy industry structure will optimise and sustain farmer returns.

This especially commissioned initiative will be released exclusively to delegates of the Australian Dairy Conference – in a move that signifies the ‘coming of age’ of the adc movement.

ADC president Matt Reid said the board wanted to make this investment in order to take programming to a new level. ‘This allows us to really take a close involvement in the shaping of the program because we have been intimately involved in the brief and been very specific about the research we want done.

In preparing his report, Freshlogic principal Steve Spencer is conducting an extensive review of the impact of supermarkets, milk traders, bargaining groups, competitors (NZ, the US and Argentina in particular) and the role of cooperatives. Preliminary indications are that Steve will suggest to this audience that we could do a lot better in extracting returns from the market and that inevitable structural change will ensure a more sustainable Australian dairy business. In this broad ranging and at-times controversial review of how we could take responsibility for our future, ADC delegates will be challenged to think differently about their industry.
