DAFF Young Scientists’ Communication Award

The ADC is once again pleased to partner with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry to bring you the DAFF Young Scientists’ Communication Award. This award is intended to foster the professional development of our young scientists and bring them together with dairy farmers to ensure science and farm continues to go hand in hand.

This outstanding competition is considered a highlight of the conference program. For a farmer, there is nothing more heartening than to see enthusiastic, knowledgeable, practical young scientists who are committed to a career of helping us increase our farm productivity.

From an excellent field, a total of six finalists have been chosen.

Meisha-Marika Holloway-Phillips University of Tasmania
Timothy Huggins University of Melbourne
Katherine Tarrant DPI Victoria
Anoma Hetti Arachchige University of Melbourne
Cameron Ludemann University of Melbourne
Victoria Scott University of Sydney

Finalists are mentored by respected dairy scientist Dr Danny Donaghy and receive professional public speaking training from voice coach Anne Burbook.

Each finalist will be asked to prepare an article for the Australian Dairy Farm Journal, which will be printed in the first instance in the conference proceedings; to prepare a poster for display at the conference and then make a five minute presentation on their chosen subject during the first day of the conference [commencing 4pm]. The winner will be announced during the Rabobank conference dinner the following evening.
