Australian Dairy Conference


The Australian Dairy Conference hit Melbourne, Victoria in 2018 with the Pre Conference Tour heading to the notable Gippsland Dairy Region, in South East Victoria.

Gippsland is classified as a major Australian dairy region producing around 1.9 billion litres of milk per annum and accounting for approximately 21% of national milk output and is the biggest contributor to the local economy.

The region is host to approximately 1,300 dairy farms and 362,000 cows with an average herd size of 266. Victoria's south western dairy region is largely rainfall based but with significant irrigated dairy farming in the Macalister Irrigation District centred on Maffra.


Monday 12 February 2018 - Departs Pullman Albert Park at 7.30am. Visit National Centre for Dairy Research & Development, Ellinbank, next stop Tarago River Cheese (and tasting!) and Willow Grove (Ian & Kerry Cougle). Overnight Traralgon.


Tuesday 13 February 2018 - farm tour with Paul & Lisa Mumford (GippsDairy Focus Farm) and Graeme & Jenny Cope at Fish Creek before return to Pullman Albert Park for Fonterra Welcome Function at The Park at 6.00pm.
