Dairy Tour - Northern Victoria

The Murray Dairy farming region is one of the most productive dairy areas in Australia with 850+ dairy farms, approximately 255,000 milking cows and home to 13 milk processing plants.     The area is well known for irrigation and dairy is one of the major users of irrigation water for pasture systems.

Sunday 11th February 

Depart Melbourne  – There will be two tour bus options to depart Melbourne.  One leaving from Crown Melbourne, the other departing from a location close to the airport.

Avonlea Flowers, Murchison  – Flower farm & morning tea.  Successful family business which has grown to be the largest cut flower farm in Australia

Lachie Stephens, Stanhope – Dairy farm visit with new calf rearing facility only recently installed.

Mark & Kate Walpole, Yalca – Dairy farm visit.  Large family business with two rotary dairies across two sites and a large free stall barn.

Accommodation – Parklake Hotel, Shepparton

Dinner – Shepparton overlooking the picturesque Victoria Park Lake

Monday 12th February

Russell, Cath & Mick Pell, Wyuna – Dairy farm visit with pasture grazing.

Clydevale Holsteins, Dee family, Macorna – Dairy farm visit.  Large family farm with the first robotic compost barn in Victoria.   Lunch.

Tour concludes at Crown Melbourne at 4.30pm.

Pre Conference package includes two day guided tour, coach transport, one night accommodation and all meals.  Limited places.
